“Amber” is our foundation thoroughbred brood mare. She is the full sister to Candi's Dandy, born the year after our beloved Hugh. Amber won twice on the track before an injury ended her career as a runner. Next, she was trained as a showjumper and moved up the ranks to Grand Prix events until another injury ended that career.

We bought Amber sight unseen in 2001 and had her shipped to Texas from California. We were amazed by her size conformation and wonderful temperment. In 2002, we bred Amber to Pallas Digion, and had Full O' Fancy (Flo)in 2003, the first of 5 wonderful foals for this pairing. From the time that Flo hit the ground, Amber has been the perfect broodmare, a watchful but not overbearing mother, who will discipline her foals when necessary.

Four Generation Pedigree for Fancy Candi

The pedigree for Fancy Candi goes back to Northern Dancer in the sire line. Her sire was Candi's Gold, one of the top California sires, known for the quality of his daughters and for running hard against Alysheba during the 1987 Triple Crown Season. The great mare Gold Digger is represented on the top of her chart, where Nashua appears twice.

Amber's dam sire is Miami Sun, one of 19 stakes winners produced by his sire, Crozier.
