At Southgate Farm, our breeding program came directly from our love of eventing. Here, Ros is pictured riding our favorite horse,
Candi's Dandy TB (Hugh) at the Cedarwood Horse Trial in Texas. Hugh's wise, gentle spirit and his love for life are what led us to
find his full sister, Fancy Candi TB (Amber), who became our foundation mare. Currently, Ros is bringing along a youngster from the
same Candi's Gold bloodline, Robi Renae.Additionally, we have three horses eventing regularly in Area 2, Cornichon (Beau), Full o' Fancy (Flo) and Redemption Song (Marley). Flo and Marley are Amber foals, both sired by Pallas Digion.
Beau
Beau was the first foal we purchased and he was himself a first foal. He is descended from the legendary Cormac timber-racing line that also produced Ballycor, 1976 Olympic Gold Medalist.
Beau was a late bloomer, beginning his eventing career at the age of 10. Moving quickly through the eventing levels, Beau reached the Intermediate level in 2009. His next goal is to qualify for a CCI** with his trainer/rider Lili Bennett.
Flo

Flo is an incredibly talented mover and jumper and exhibits immense scope both over show jumps as well as over solid cross country obstacles. She is a fiery, flashy mare with lots of chrome and a winning attitude. Currently residing at Lanark Farm (VA), Flo is co-owned, trained and ridden by Lili Bennett.
Flo moved up to the Preliminary level at the age of 6, and there seems to be no limit to her talent for eventing.
Marley

Marley was Amber's second foal, born in 2004. From the beginning, he was big, strong and friendly. He has shown himself to be true to his bloodlines by choosing to jump whatever obstacles he finds in the paddock -- for the sheer pleasure of it. After we had several coops installed along the paddock fencelines, Marley's response was to look at the jump close up, wheel around and bound over it to join his friends in the next paddock.
In his fifth year, Marley moved up to the Training level, trained by Anne Riley and ridden by Liz Riley.
