Our Athletic Mares
Southgate Farm's mares have been chosen for their athletic ability, conformation and breeding.
Amber and Addie are both thoroughbreds that had careers on the track. Amber went on to excel as a showjumper, while all of Addie's wins came at long distances. A TB/Percheron cross, Polly became a Grade 1 eventer, and Skye is out of one of the best European eventing lines.
Our Young Horses
Our young horses are the pride of Southgate Farm. Having started our sporthorse breeding program in 2001, our first youngster, Full o' Fancy (Flo),
is beginning to make a name for herself as she moves up the ranks as an eventer.
Our foals have been sired by Pallas Digion (ISH), Foxglen Himself (RID), Salute the Truth (TB), Innkeeper (TB), Tenpins (TB) and Scrimshaw (TB).
At Southgate Farm we began with a love for eventing and the American Thoroughbred. Our favorite horse -- the one responsible for so much of what we've become -- was Candi's Dandy (Houston),
a TB by Candi's Gold. In the quest for a more durable sport horse that could withstand the rigors of regular eventing, showjumping and field hunting,
we found and bought Houston's full sister, Fancy Candi (Amber). Then, we decided to begin our breeding program by crossing Amber with an Irish Sport Horse, Pallas Digion, a match that
would yield a 7/8 TB and 1/8 ID cross.
