2007 chestnut Thoroughbred colt by Tenpins (TB) out of Adriatic Sea (TB) by Polish Numbers (TB).

After purchasing Vinny's dam Adriatic Sea (Addie) off the track, Southgate Farm set out to find the best quality breeding we could afford to a young stallion with suitable bloodlines. After looking at many stallions in Lexington, we chose Tenpins, a son of Smart Strike, just beginning his stud career. The eNick from Tenpins was an A++, but we were even more impressed with his stature, presence and his eye when we went to Walmac to see Tenpins.

When Addie was getting close to foaling time, we took her back to Darkstar Farm in Lancaster, KY to foal out under the care of our good friends, Nick and Jeannie Larkin. Vinny was born at 2am in a February snowstorm, and was big, strong and confident from the start. Nick and Jeannie came to like Vinny so much that they purchased him from us as a yearling.

Vinny's sire is Tenpins, winner of 5 graded stakes races at 4 and 5, with lifetime earnings of over $1.1 million. His grandsire is Smart Strike, the sire of Curlin and English Channel, and North American general sire of the year in 2007 and 2008.

On Polish Smart's dam side, his grandsire is Polish Numbers, a highly regarded son of Danzig. Polish Numbers sired 35 stakes winners, including 9 graded/group stakes winners. Vinny's great-grandsire on his dam side is Cure the Blues, a legendary broodmare stallion ranked first among New York stallions for six straight years.
